Everton News columnist Alan Myers was among those raising concerns, but Tony Bellew responded strongly on TalkSPORT to fans calling for the manager’s dismissal.
Speaking to Jason Cundy and Jamie O’Hara, the former boxer said: “Let me just tell you, not a chance. No one wants the gaffer out. How could you possibly want him out after what he came in and done last season?”
“He’s a top five manager from where he started to where he finished last season. A top five manager. He was absolutely outstanding.
“Now, this year, we’re just missing a 20-goal hitman. We have to be realistic, right now, Everton can’t attract a 20-goal per season hitman. But it will come.”

Beto has disappointed Moyes in the previous months, and that feeling seems to have lingered into the current season.
Thierno Barry, who joined the Toffees last summer window, also looks unprepared for the step up to Premier League football.
Moyes spoke with BBC Sport after the game against West Ham, highlighting how Everton’s lack of goals is starting to become a real problem.
“We played some decent stuff at times, we got a goal but we couldn’t get a second one which would have been all important.
“We did a lot of good things but we just couldn’t quite craft a chance to get a second goal. Once we didn’t get it, West Ham grew in confidence and belief that they could get something themselves which they did.”
