Everton defeated West Ham 2-0 in the Premier League this weekend.

Everton picked up an impressive win in the Premier League today – defeating West Ham United at Goodison Park.

They won the game 2-0 after goals from Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley secured the victory for Everton.

Barkley put in a fantastic performance for Everton and needed such a performance after a difficult start to the season.

But for one famous Everton fan it was the performance of his elder statesman in midfield that excelled.

Gareth Barry put in an excellent performance in the heart of the Everton midfield and has been in good form throughout the season so far.

World champion boxer Tony Bellew, a well-known Evertonian, had this to say on Twitter after the game – clearly impressed by the performance of both Barry and right-back Seamus Coleman:

The experience of Barry is proving to be a key component of Ronald Koeman’s side this season. Alongside Idrissa Gana Gueye he has formed a brilliant partnership and with Barkley in form in front then Everton could certainly be fighting for the European places this season after all.

That would certainly put a smile on Bellew’s face.
