Tony Adams says he’s worried about England’s Tottenham players

Tottenham Hotspur have five players in the England squad for the World Cup.

Arsenal legend Tony Adams has told The Sun that he is worried about the Tottenham Hotspur players in the current England squad.

Tottenham have Danny Rose, Kieran Trippier, Eric Dier, Dele Alli and Harry Kane in the England squad for the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia this summer.

Former Arsenal and England international centre-back Adams believes that lack of a winning mentality of Spurs players poses a problem for the Three Lions.

Adams told The Sun: “You must be able to handle winning emotionally and mentally and if they don’t know how to win it, they aren’t going to win it.

“I’m really worried about these Tottenham players, I don’t think they know how to win. They’re very good players but at certain points in seasons and tournaments, you have to step up — there’s a psyche players must have.”

Lack of a winning mentality?

Tottenham have not won anything under manager Mauricio Pochettino in the last four years, but that does not mean that the players do not have a winning mentality.

True, the likes of Kane, Alli and Rose have not won the Premier League or the FA Cup, but they are professional footballers who play to win.

Not being able to win at club is also going to make the Spurs players hungry, and will make them try harder for England at the World Cup in Russia.

No one should expect England to go all the way in Russia, but the importance of the Spurs players for Gareth Southgate’s team cannot be understated, especially in attack where Harry Kane is the undisputed number one striker.
