Tony Adams has heaped praised on Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg whilst speaking to Premier League Productions by labelling the Tottenham midfielder as ‘absolutely phenomenal’.

The 25-year-old put in a Man of the Match display on Sunday as Tottenham won the bragging rights once again in the North London derby.

This isn’t the first time this season that the combative-natured Hojbjerg has dominated a midfield because he has been wrecking havoc ever since his £15 million switch from Southampton to Spurs in the summer [BBC Sport].

Adams compared the midfield aggressor to Highbury legends Patrick Vieira and Emmanuel Petit following his performance against Arsenal.

“You [Tim Sherwood] used to play like him also,” said Adams. “That screen. He’s so important. Patrick [Vieira] did it many a time. Petit did it.

“He was phenomenal Hojbjerg [against Arsenal]. Absolutely phenomenal. The two central defenders have come off the pitch not breaking a sweat.”

  3. Matt Doherty

The likes of Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son have been able to thrive in the final third because of the protection behind them.

Added with that, with their being uncertainties about Tottenham’s centre-back duo in recent times, all of that has now been put to bed because of the performances Hojbjerg has been putting in front of them.

The Dane has been one of the best performers in the Premier League this season, and without a doubt, one of the signings of the summer.
