Tony Adams has told Premier League Productions that he was told that Gini Wijnaldim wouldn’t reach his current level after Liverpool’s thumping win against Wolves on Sunday evening.

The England legend shared that he himself didn’t think the technically-gifted Liverpool midfielder would reach ‘this level’ and he was told by those in Feyenoord that they weren’t expecting him to get to his current heights. either

Wijnaldum got on the scoresheet last night when he scored a quite brilliant curling effort from the edge of the penalty area as Liverpool put four past Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

Adams shared his thoughts on Wijnaldum and the progression the Dutchman has made during these past few years.

“I didn’t think he would get to this level, to be honest with you,” said Adams. “When I was seeing him with Feyenoord. But playing with better players has brought him on.

“I was in Feyenoord when he was developing and the people of Holland were not expecting him to get to the heights of where he is.”
