Hammers youngster Toni Martinez spoke to reporters in the aftermath of his side’s FA Cup third round draw with Shrewsbury Town yesterday, and expressed his gratitude for the support that he received from the travelling West Ham fans, as quoted by the club’s official website.

The 20-year-old made his senior debut for the east London outfit yesterday, coming on as a 71st minute substitute against the Shrews, and impressed with his overall display.

Martinez joined the Hammers from Valencia in the summer of 2016, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £2.4 million, and has earned rave reviews for his performances for the club’s developmental side.

The Spanish youngster has scored 24 goals in 27 appearances for West Ham’s under-23’s, and the Hammers faithful have been championing him for more regular first-team action all season long.

Martinez spoke to reporters after the game yesterday, and promised the West Ham fans that he will work as hard as he can to become a regular member of Moyes’ first-team squad this season, as quoted by WHUFC.com:

“It’s always good to hear the support from the fans and I’m really happy to make my debut finally, so now I promise that I’m just going to keep working and I’m sure that more chances will arrive. I’m going to keep working for more opportunities and I’m sure they will arrive. It’s unbelievable to hear the support the fans have for me. We have some of the best fans in the world and I’m proud of that.”

Next up for the east London outfit is a huge clash with Huddersfield Town in the Premier League on Saturday, and Martinez will be hoping for another chance to impress both Moyes and the Hammers faithful.
