West Ham United kick off their EFL Cup campaign later this month and the Spaniard could play a part.
While yet another international break is currently upon us, West Ham United fans will soon see their side back in action as they not only continue their Premier League campaign but also kick off their EFL Cup duties with a home match against Accrington.
The Hammers will be hoping to go far in the competition after crashing out of the Europa League early, but manager Slaven Bilic is still likely to give some of his younger players a chance.
One such player is 19-year-old striker Toni Martinez, who signed for West Ham from Valencia earlier this year.
The young Spaniard is yet to make his competitive Hammers debut but that could be right around the corner after he hit the ground running for the club’s under-23s.
Three goals in his first two matches at that level this season, including a brace against Newcastle United’s second string, is impressive enough. But Martinez also found the net twice against Coventry City in the EFL Trophy.
That means Martinez has scored five times in just three matches since the summer and surely the time is right for Bilic to give him a run out against Accrington on 21 September.
From there Martinez will be hoping to earn his Premier League debut and at this rate that will also come sooner rather than later for the West Ham sensation.
