Glasgow Rangers outcast Michael O’Halloran has enjoyed a brilliant start to life away from Ibrox, having joined St Johnstone on loan.

St Johnstone boss Tommy Wright has insisted that he would like to extend Michael O’Halloran’s loan deal beyond January if possible and potentially land the Rangers forward on a permanent basis, the Evening Times reports.
O’Halloran returned to his former club in the summer, bringing a temporary end to his torrid spell at Ibrox which had seen him seemingly frozen out by Pedro Caixinha.
But the 26-year-old has made the most of his loan exit, scoring four times in just four Scottish Premiership games to top the division’s scoring charts and earn the Player of the Month award for August.

And Wright has expressed a desire to seek some kind of fresh deal when the January window opens, but admitted that it may be tough to pull off.
“I would hope to be able to extend the loan, but a lot of things can happen between now and then,” he said, as reported by the Evening Times. “Our plan would be to extend it or maybe if I can get the chairman to release a few quid we might even buy him.

“We did ask about buying him, but that didn’t happen. The loan was the next best option but let’s hope we can hold on to him for some time.
“The worry is that his value increases, but I’ve gone into it as a manager knowing that worst-case scenario I will have him until January.”
Though Caixinha clearly did not include the forward in his plans, there will surely be a number of Gers fans who will be urging the manager to give him another chance if he continues to score for fun as he has done so far.
Rangers look particularly short in terms of options up front and out on the wing, and O’Halloran – while he may not have caught the eye too often since arriving at Ibrox – could add depth in both of those areas, so perhaps the door should not be shut on him just yet.
