St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright has told BBC Sport that he would speak to Rangers if they approached him about becoming their new boss.
Rangers saw Mark Warburton leave the club in acrimonious circumstances earlier this month, and they continue to struggle even after his exit.
Interim boss Graeme Murty has overseen two defeats in his last two games, with 2-1 defeats away at both Dundee and Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
It so far seems that Murty – a managerial rookie – isn’t quite ready for the job, and Rangers fans are now calling for the club to make a decision sooner rather than later, with the club now nine points behind Aberdeen in the race for second place.
A number of manager have been linked with the post, and one dark horse is St Johnstone boss Tommy Wright, whose superb work on a limited budget has drawn major plaudits.
The Northern Irishman, 53, featured for the likes of Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest and Manchester City during his playing career as a goalkeeper, and is now impressing as a manager.

Wright boasts a win rate of of almost 44% over his time with St Johnstone, and he has been loosely linked with the Rangers job due to his frugal work and knowledge of Scottish football.
Now, Wright has told BBC Sport that he would be interested in speaking to Rangers about the job if they approach him, but he so far hasn’t had any contact from the Gers or any other clubs.
“I don’t think there’s anybody in a job or out of a job that wouldn’t want to take that call,” said Wright. “Yeah, I would speak [if the call came in from Rangers] because it’s a big club but it’s all hypothetical. That call hasn’t happened as from other clubs it hasn’t happened so I’m still happy here,” he added.
