Leeds United striker Pierre Michel Lasogga has five goals to his name since signing in the summer.
Lasogga was brought in to replace Chris Wood at Leeds in the summer transfer window, but the target-man striker has not made the best impression at Elland Road.
Lasogga has scored five goals and claimed four assists in his first 11 matches at Leeds.
However, there are some doubts over how well he is linking with the rest of his teammates.
And Smith said: “He’s come in and done well, but there’s criticism about his overall team play. There’s a bit of pressure on him to score goals, but he’s got to start putting it in for the team.”
Leeds were beaten 2-1 by Brentford in their most recent match, and Lasogga missed a huge opportunity at Griffin Park.
The German forward latched on to a long punt forward from Andy Lonergan and was clean through, but his shot went well over the bar.
That miss proved costly, as Brentford scored late on to deny Leeds what could have been a crucial point.
Lasogga is set to face more competition for a place in the starting line-up soon, with Caleb Ekuban due to return in the near future.
