Tommy Fleetwood is in with a real chance of winning the RBC Canadian Open on Sunday.

Fleetwood has played some really solid golf so far this week at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley.

Rounds of 67, 65 and 67 leave him just two strokes adrift of the leader, Jackson Suber, with 18 holes left to play.

Tommy Fleetwood came agonizingly close to winning the RBC Canadian Open back in 2023, when he lost out to crowd favorite Nick Taylor in a playoff.

Fleetwood is one of the most popular players in the game, due to his affable nature and incredible golfing ability.

The Canadian fans have given the Englishman huge support this week in Toronto, but has Fleetwood been impressed by the crowds?

Fleetwood addressed the media on Saturday, after shooting 67 in his third round at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley.

The one-time PGA Tour winner was asked about what he has made of the Canadian fans in Toronto this week.

“I think they have always been great with me,“ Fleetwood admitted.

“I think even 2023, was it, they were great with me then. I probably got about as much support as anybody could hope for during that time, during that Sunday.

“I’ve always enjoyed coming here, I’ve always felt like the crowd are very friendly, very supportive, very hospitable. I’ve been lucky to get the right end of that as well.

“So it’s always been nice and I don’t think, I don’t know maybe since then there’s been a little bit of extra support for me.“

Tommy Fleetwood must improve one part of his game in Canada

If Fleetwood is to win his second PGA Tour title on Sunday, he needs to sharpen up in one specific department.

The Englishman has driven the ball exceptionally well this week, and the same can be said for his approach play and putting.

He is ranked inside the top 14 in strokes gained in those three categories.

However, the one area that has let him down has been his short game.

Tommy Fleetwood is ranked T-58 in strokes gained around the green during the first three rounds of the RBC Canadian Open, having lost 1.1 strokes on the field throughout the week.

His chipping and pitching will almost certainly have to improve on Sunday if he is to have any chance of winning, unless he hits every single green in regulation, of course.
