The Villans have made a poor start to life in the Championship.

Tommy Elphick has suggested that Aston Villa’s supporters are the club’s special ingredient as they look to get back into the Premier League at the first time of asking, the Birmingham Mail reports.
The Villans have endured a mixed start to life in the second tier, and some of the optimism that existed following the change of ownership and the appointment of Roberto Di Matteo has faded slightly in recent weeks.

A series of late goals has meant that their victory over Rotherham on the second day of the season remains their only league win, and they go into Saturday’s game with Newcastle 19th in the table, just three points above the bottom three.
And as they seek to get their season off and running, Elphick has explained the importance of the fans’ support during the coming games.
“We have got that special ingredient of the fans,” he told the Mail.

“They have been superb, they have stuck with us.
“Once that momentum gets rolling it will only get bigger and we need to do this together.”
Given the number of late goals they have conceded, it is hardly surprising that the supporters have voiced their frustration at the full-time whistle at times.

Seeing games out should have surely been something the team would have been working on as they have already been punished on several occasions.
But with the late goals often seeing their potential three points reduced to one, rather than one point reduced to none, there are signs that suggest that they could soon be heading in the right direction.
