Aston Villa defender Tommy Elphick has told the club’s official website he believes they have the best squad and staff in the Championship.
The Villans were relegated to the second flight last season after a disastrous season in the Premier League.
The quality of the squad was heavily questioned throughout that campaign, with many believing that they were seriously lacking in quality.
They spent heavily in the summer to try and fix that as Roberto di Matteo splashed the cash to try and overhaul his squad to ensure an instant return to the top flight.

They have struggled at the beginning of this season, picking up just eight points from their first eight games and sitting 19th in the table.
That has seen them questioned once again but Elphick has a very high opinion of the current playing squad.
“We’ve got to focus on ourselves, on what we can do,” he told the club’s official website.
“I believe 100% in the talent we’ve got in the dressing room now. I believe we’ve got the best squad and staff in the league. That’s going to take time to come together.”

A look at Villa’s squad certainly does show that they do have one of the strongest in the division.
So far, though, they have failed to show that with them currently looking more like a group of individuals than the cohesive unit they need to be.
It is up to Roberto di Matteo to fix that and if he doesn’t do that quickly, he may find himself quickly out the door at Villa Park.
