Tommaso Bianchi has revealed to Ascoli Live he was happy to hear that his former Leeds United team-mate Giuseppe Bellusci scored last week.

Bellusci left Leeds on a season-long loan to join Serie A outfit Empoli during the summer.

The 27-year-old had an often troubling two-year stint in Yorkshire, but he seems to be enjoying himself back in Italy after scoring in the 2-1 win over Crotone last Monday.

Bianchi spent some 18 months as Bellusci’s team-mate at Leeds, and the 27-year-old, who joined Ascoli in a permanent deal during the summer, says he is pleased for his compatriot, while revealing he is also happy with the Serie B outfit.

“I’m was happy for Bellusci, when I heard he scored in the game,” he told Ascoli Live.

“I am happy especially since returning to Serie A he’s been playing really strong. It is also time for me to score a few goals. Who knows, maybe this Saturday will be a good time.”

Leeds seem to be getting on okay without the Italian duo. Garry Monk’s side have won three of their eight Championship outings thus far, with two of those coming in the past six days following a difficult opening month or so.

The Whites sit 15th in the table, only four points adrift of the top six as it stands.
