Takehiro Tomiyasu admits ‘of course’ the Arsenal players are dreaming about winning the Premier League title. But he also believes it is still too early to feel they can go all the way.
The Gunners sit atop the table at the halfway stage of the season. Mikel Arteta has led the Emirates Stadium team to a club-record 50 points from 19 games. Their results are enough to lead defending champions Manchester City by five points and also with a game in hand.
Arsenal have produced a surprise title challenge this season after failing to qualify for the Champions League last term. They have also won a division-high 16 games, drawn a low of two games and are one of just two teams with Newcastle United to lose in just one fixture.

Only Newcastle have conceded fewer goals (11) over 20 games than the Gunners (16) have this season, as well. While Manchester City are also the only team to score (53) more often than Arsenal (45). Aaron Ramsdale (9) ranks second to Nick Pope (12) for clean sheets, too.
A title this term would be Arsenal’s first Premier League crown since Arsene Wenger’s side became the Invincibles in 2003/04. It was the Gunners’ 13th top-flight title and third since the Premier League was formed. Now, Arteta has the north London giants dreaming again.

Tomiyasu admits Arsenal are dreaming they can win the Premier League title
Now, Tomiyasu has admitted that the Arsenal players are dreaming they can win a Premier League title this season. But the 24-year-old is refusing to let himself get carried away and believes he and Arteta’s team must adhere to the Spaniard’s plan to play it game-by-game.
“Of course,” Tomiyasu has now told Goal. “To win the Premier League is the biggest dream for every player. But we’ve only played 19 games now and it’s too soon to speak about it.
“We have to play game-by-game, as Mikel says. We have to go for it and we will go for it – we are focused.”

Tomiyasu has only played a limited role in Arteta’s plans as Arsenal eye a Premier League title this term. The right-back has appeared in 15 of the Gunners’ 19 fixtures but has only started in four so far. He has also only amassed 497 minutes, the equivalent of 5.5 games.
Arsenal will now look to stretch their five-point advantage over Manchester City away to Everton on Saturday. The Emirates Stadium team take on the Toffees at Goodison Park in Sean Dyche’s first game in charge. While the Citizens visit Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
