Powell has long been linked with Celtic, and is out of contract at Wigan.

Nick Powell has long been linked with a move to Celtic and with his contract set to expire at English Championship side Wigan Athletic, a move could materialise – and the Hoops need him more than ever.
The 24-year-old playmaker has starred for Wigan since joining the club in the summer of 2016, scoring 37 goals in 123 games for The Latics as well as creating 16 goals from attacking midfield.
Powell, a former Manchester United midfielder, is set to leave Wigan in the summer but could exit the DW Stadium even before that. Wigan may want to avoid losing Powell for nothing, and that will mean he must be sold in January.
Celtic have suffered another injury blow during the international break, with mercurial playmaker Tom Rogic suffering a knee injury during Australia duty. It remains to be seen when he will return to fitness.
If Rogic is out of action for a sustained period, Celtic need the England Under-21 international as soon as possible to help them sustain a push for a third consecutive treble north of the border.
TeamTalk reported that Powell was on Celtic’s radar, but they face plenty of competition from the likes of Aston Villa, Stoke Middlesbrough, West Brom, Derby and Rangers all said to be interested.

Powell was worth £5million in the summer but he could now be worth a fraction of that price, if Wigan look to sell in January as it is their last chance to pick up a fee for the in-form star.
With Rogic out, Celtic need to win the race for Powell more than ever.
