Sheffield Wednesday defender Tom Lees has admitted to the Sheffield Star that he cannot understand what the Hillsborough crowd did on Tuesday evening.

Wednesday managed to beat Bolton Wanderers 1-0, but frustrations at the Yorkshire club were still very audible.

At one stage, Morgan Fox was jeered by the home crowd, as sections of it turned on their own player.

And Lees admits that he doesn’t understand why Wednesday fans were so critical of the full-back.

He said: “Some things I understand, some things I don’t.

“I did not understand it on Saturday with Foxy and as captain, I think it is right for me to say that I think it was poor.

“Everyone has got their own opinion and can say what they want; they (fans) pay their money to get in. I just do not think that helps anyone.”

Wednesday have been on a poor run of form recently, which has seen them heavily criticised.

Their victory over Bolton did relieve some of the pressure, but the mood around Wednesday is still far from positive.

Manager Jos Luhukay remains under huge pressure, and only a run of wins will get supporters off his back.

Wednesday are next in action at the weekend, when they take on Blackburn Rovers.
