Leeds fans wanted Tom Heaton, manager said no… he won’t be changing his mind.

Leeds United appear to be over their goalkeeping injury crisis after Bailey Peacock-Farrell returned to the side, and Will Huffer proved to be a capable deputy.

Three weeks ago the Whites were linked with a variety of emergency goalkeeping options. One was Tom Heaton, with TeamTalk reporting Leeds were considering a loan move.

Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa ruled out Heaton as a possibility in a subsequent press conference, The Mirror reported.

Heaton has been capped by England but fallen down Burnley’s pecking order after Joe Hart and Nick Pope seized chances when he was injured.

He had a last ditch opportunity to change Bielsa’s mind and secure an escape route to the Championship leaders yesterday. It did not go well.

Thomas Heaton of Burnley celebrates his sides first goal during the Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Burnley at Wembley Stadium on August 27, 2017 in London, England.

Heaton started in goal for Burnley’s under-23s against Leeds.

He played all 90 minutes and conceded six goals to Carlos Corberan’s side.

Patrick Bamford scored a hat-trick, with Lewis Baker (2) and Izzy Brown both on the scoresheet.

A powerful performance and clean sheet could potentially have opened the door for Heaton to get back onto Leeds’ radar.

It’s even more unlikely now that Bielsa changes his mind.
