Everton midfielder Ronald Koeman feels he could have featured more last season at Goodison Park.
Davies made 18 Premier League starts for the Toffees last term, as he enjoyed a fine breakout campaign.
However, the England youth international didn’t make an Everton start for the first eight matches.
And Davies claims that Koeman could have played him more, as he felt he had something to offer Everton’s first-team – even at that young age.
“I had it a bit in the early part of last season when I felt I could have been more involved but it was a difficult time for the team and it’s hard to put people in under those circumstances. If they don’t play well, that could be the end of it and the young players can sometimes go under,” Davies said.
“It’s hard for people coming through to show how good they are in tight games and when the performances are low. It’s much easier to come into a team that’s doing well and perform at a high standard.
“As in any form of life, if you are confident doing something, then you are going to be doing it better. And if your confidence isn’t there then you start to doubt yourself. For me, I’ve just got to go out there believing I’m going to do well and I try to bring that to the table.”
Davies was held back by Koeman this season too, with the youngster not starting regularly for Everton over the early part of the campaign.
Davies made just three Premier League starts for the Toffees until Koeman was sacked, but David Unsworth has shown great faith in the midfielder.
Davies has not missed a minute since Unsworth took temporary charge, with his energy clearly being key for the caretaker boss.
The 19-year-old may have to prove himself again in the near future, as Everton look to find a new permanent boss.
The Toffees are still looking for Koeman’s replacement, with an appointment expected in the coming days.
