Fulham midfielder Tom Cairney has been linked with Newcastle United and West Ham United in the January transfer window.

It has been reported that Premier League club West Ham are ready to pay £15 million as transfer fee for Cairney, but Championship outfit Fulham are claimed to be refusing to part company with the 27-year-old.

One can understand the former Hull City star’s (reported) stance. The Cottagers may be in the running for the Championship playoffs, but the London club will find it hard to get promoted to the Premier League at the end of the season and probably have to be lucky.
True, West Ham are in danger of getting relegated from the Premier League, but the Hammers have a good squad and an experienced manager in David Moyes.

Cairney’s (reported) interest in joining West Ham, though, is probably bad news for Newcastle United.
The Northern Echo has credited Rafael Benitez’s side with interest in the Scotland international, but it seems that the former Blackburn Rovers man wants to join the Hammers, not the Magpies.
