Newcastle United have been long-term admirers of Fulham midfielder Tom Cairney.

Newcastle spent much of the summer transfer window chasing Cairney, but they were unable to get a deal over the line.
Cairney went on to sign a new contract at Craven Cottage, which put to bed any rumours of him leaving.

But Newcastle have now been linked with the midfielder again, and although he stressed his commitment to Fulham, he admitted the rumours were flattering.
“I love playing football here. That’s what I want to do,” he said.
“It’s a massive accolade that [Newcastle boss] Rafa Benitez wants me.
“It’s a pat on the back to myself I guess, to know that other managers appreciate what I’m doing.”
Fulham have actually had a disappointing campaign so far, with Slavisa Jokanovic’s side now in a battle to claim a top six place.
Newcastle, meanwhile, are expected to invest in their squad in the January transfer window.
Newcastle are currently in 14th place in the Premier League table, but a run of six games without a win has caused concern that they could be dragged into the relegation fight.
