Tom Brady’s flag football venture is facing uncertainty after a key Saudi-backed funding deal was reportedly thrown into doubt.
The project was positioned as a high-profile collaboration between sports, media, and international investment, with Saudi Arabia playing a central role in its expansion.
But shifting geopolitical tensions have now disrupted those plans, raising questions not just about funding, but about how global events can directly impact emerging sports ventures.

Tom Brady’s flag football event faces Saudi funding uncertainty
According to Front Office Sports, the financial backing behind the event is no longer secure.
“The multi-year agreement between Fanatics and Saudi Arabia’s entertainment arm for sponsorship of a flag football event fronted by Tom Brady is in peril,” FOS reported.
The report added, “Riyadh Season, a promotional vehicle for Saudi’s General Entertainment Authority (GEA), had a sponsorship deal for the Fanatics Flag Football Classic to take place in Riyadh last month.
“The event, which aired on Fox, was moved to Los Angeles after a coalition including the United States and Israel attacked Iran, triggering turmoil in the Middle East.”
The shift in location and the wider geopolitical situation have directly impacted the planned structure of the event. As a result, the long-term stability of the partnership is now uncertain.
Fanatics expected to continue the event despite uncertainty
Despite the complications, there are indications that the event itself will continue in some form.
“The source added that Fanatics Studios, the upstart production arm of the apparel and collectibles company, is expected to continue producing the event with or without Saudi funding,” FOS stated.
This suggests that while sponsorship may change, the broader concept behind the event still holds value. It also reflects how sports properties can adapt when external funding situations shift.
For now, the future of the partnership remains unclear, but the event itself appears likely to move forward regardless of how the funding situation develops.
