Tom Brady delivered another dig at the New York Jets while discussing his lifelong support for the San Francisco 49ers.

The retired quarterback made the comment during his documentary series focused on the 49ers’ dynasty years.

It adds to a rivalry that shaped much of his time in the NFL, where Tom Brady dominated every time he took the field against the New York Jets.

Tom Brady revisits New York Jets rivalry in San Francisco 49ers series

Brady produced and hosted the four-part documentary “Rise of the 49ers,” which examines San Francisco’s dominance in the 1980s.

Speaking with Jerry Rice, he explained how growing up a 49ers fan influenced his path. “I don’t think I could’ve been what I was if I grew up rooting for the Jets.”

The line immediately stood out given his extensive history against New York. For years, Brady has taken slight digs at the New York Jets.

The remark stings even more when you consider that the Jets’ cross-town rivals, the New York Giants, got the better of Tom Brady in the Super Bowl twice, courtesy of Eli Manning.

Tom Brady’s career record underscores long-standing tension

Across 23 seasons with the Patriots and Buccaneers, Brady posted a 30-7 record versus the Jets. He accumulated 9,059 passing yards and 60 touchdowns in those matchups.

The Jets have not returned to the postseason since the 2010 campaign. Brady has referenced the franchise even after retirement, including during his Patriots statue unveiling.

For Brady, getting his digs in at the expense of the Jets has become somewhat of a tradition for him during his media interactions

His latest remark keeps the narrative between Brady and New York firmly in focus and shows that this one-sided rivalry is alive despite Brady’s retirement years ago.
