Tom Boyd expects Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard to go from strength to strength now.
Tom Boyd has told The Glasgow Evening Times that he expects Celtic hitman Odsonne Edouard to enjoy a fine end to the season.
The 20-year-old striker climbed off the bench to curl home a wonderful winner for the 10-man Hoops in Sunday’s 3-2 win at Rangers.
In doing so, Edouard, on a season-long loan from Paris Saint-Germain, gave rise to suggestions that Celtic should sign him up on a permanent basis.
The Frenchman has managed eight goals from 10 starts across all competitions for Brendan Rodgers’s side this season and Boyd labelled the youngster a “greaty luxury” to have in reserve.
“Odsonne Edouard is a great luxury to have on the bench and Celtic’s bench is only going to get stronger during the run-in because Stuart Armstrong, Patrick Roberts and Leigh Griffiths are all coming back.”
“It was a fantastic display; the boys did really well to dig deep and see it through.”
Time will tell whether Celtic sign him on a permanent deal, but according to The Daily Mail he will cost a hefty £7 million and there is definitely an argument to be made over whether he has done enough to command such a big investment.
But if Boyd is right and Edouard does get better and better from now until the season finishes then that might well convince Rodgers to do the deal.
