Yesterday saw a long-serving and hard-working member of the AFC Bournemouth squad finally depart the club after months of speculation over his future.

South African international striker Tokelo Rantie has agreed to join Turkish side Genclerbirligi on a two-year deal.

But there is no doubt that Rantie is upset to be leaving Bournemouth behind.

He posted this emotional tribute on his personal Instagram account yesterday when the news broke he would be leaving the Cherries:

Rantie remained a popular figure with the Bournemouth faithful – despite failing to hit the expected heights on the pitch.

The 25-year-old, who has 31 caps and nine goals for the Bafana Bafana, headed to English football in 2013 from Swedish side Malmo.

But he has played just 53 times in three seasons and scored five goals, with injuries taking their toll on his Bournemouth career.

He played just 38 minutes of Premier League football last term and is way down the pecking order at the club with the likes of Callum Wilson, Lewis Grabban and Benik Afobe all ahead of him.

Cherries fans will now be wishing him the best of luck in his new adventure in Turkey.
