The 17-year-old Norwich City player impressed on Wednesday evening.
While Norwich City’s first-team are fighting hard in the Premier League their next generation are competing for the FA Youth Cup, booking their place in the quarter-finals with an outstanding turnaround against their Middlesbrough counterparts this week.
When Boro went 4-1 up in the second half any chance of a fight-back from Norwich seemed nigh on impossible, but the young Canaries had other ideas and levelled the game at 4-4 before winning ii in added time.
There were plenty of great performers on the night but arguably the standout star was midfielder Todd Cantwell.
The 17-year-old opened the scoring for Norwich and – 96 minutes of playing-time later – he scored what proved to be the winner to send his side through to the last eight of the competition.
Norwich’s other goals came from Benny Ashley-Seal, Glenn Middleton and Louis Ramsay; however it was Cantwell who deserved the most credit for starting and, most importantly, finishing the scoring.
The England under-17 international has already played nine matches for Norwich’s under-21 side and he looks set for a bright future at Carrow Road.
