Chelsea made a move to land Feyenoord boss Arne Slot over the summer but he chose to stay amid similar interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur were both chasing managers over the summer having ditched Graham Potter and Antonio Conte respectively.

Interim bosses saw out the rest of the season before Chelsea and Spurs made their big moves.

Chelsea landed a former Tottenham manager in Mauricio Pochettino whilst Spurs went for Ange Postecoglou.

Some names were linked with both clubs with Feyenoord boss Arne Slot fitting that bill.

Slot won the Eredivisie title with Feyenoord last season and guided his side to the Europa League quarter-finals.

The Dutchman subsequently attracted major interest and new reports are emerging about Chelsea’s pursuit of him.

Algemeen Dagblad report that Todd Boehly welcomed Slot onto a private jet in order to discuss a move to Stamford Bridge.

The American pulled out all the stops but Slot still decided to reject the Blues and stay with Feyenoord.

Slot stayed to build his Feyenoord side but this season hasn’t really gone to plan.

Feyenoord have been knocked out of the Champions League and are already 10 points behind Eredivisie leaders PSV.

Slot may wonder if he made the wrong decision in staying at De Kuip, with both Chelsea and Tottenham keen on him over the summer.

Tottenham made moves for Slot but the situation ended in ‘bad blood’ on both sides according to Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett.

Dorsett suggested that Tottenham felt they were being used to earn Slot a new contract at Feyenoord and weren’t impressed with him or his representatives.

Chelsea didn’t have any more luck with their approach and with both Pochettino and Postecoglou safe, it’s unclear when Slot’s next Premier League chance will emerge.
