Wolverhampton Wanderers look set to miss out on the signing of Chicago Fire goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina to Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea.
Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter that Chelsea have reached a verbal agreement with the Chicago Fire to sign Slonina in the summer transfer window.
The well-known and well-respected journalist has reported that Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has personally held talks with the Major League Soccer club.
Chelsea will pay the Chicago Fire £10 million plus add-ons for the 18-year-old goalkeeper, who will stay on loan at the American club, according to Romano.
Romano has added that Chelsea will make an official bid this week to get a deal done.

Chelsea to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers target Gabriel Slonina
This latest update on the future of Slonina will come as a blow to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Wolves have also been linked with the USA Under-20 international goalkeeper.
The London Evening Standard reported last week that Wolves and Real Madrid are interested in signing Slonina in the summer transfer window.
However, it seems that Chelsea will get a deal done soon.
No surprise
Chelsea are one of the biggest clubs in the world and are a global brand.
We are not surprised that the Blues are set to win the race to the signature of Slonina ahead of Wolves.
Now, of course, the goalkeeper will be on loan at the Chicago Fire for next season, but he is only 18 and certainly has a long-term future at Chelsea.
