Tottenham star comments on what he hopes the clubs are up to.

Toby Alderweireld has told Belgian reporters he hopes Tottenham are working on transfers.
Quoted by newspaper Nieuwsblad after Belgium’s victory over Kazakhstan, Alderweireld turned his focus briefly back to his club.
Alderweireld said: “I’m focusing on a new season at Spurs.
“I hope the club is working on reinforcements.”
Alderweireld’s own situation is not cut and dry itself.
He is eligible for transfer this summer due to his £25 million release clause, making him one of Europe’s top bargains.

This has come about ahead of him entering the final year of his contract.
As far as the player is concerned, his stance is that he is fully committed to Tottenham until he is told otherwise.
In one sense that’s the right move to take, but the reality is that if he was really committed, he would sign a new deal.
As it stands, while he is at Spurs, he wants the team to get better and sign new players. Something they haven’t done in the last two transfer windows.
Perhaps if they show some ambition, he might be tempted to renew.
