Tottenham Hotspur drew 1-1 with Watford on Saturday afternoon.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld has told The Telegraph that it was difficult playing in a back three against Watford on Saturday.
Spurs were desperately looking for a big result on Saturday afternoon as they hosted Watford in the Premier League, having been in dismal form of late.
The 3-0 defeat at Brighton before the international break meant Pochettino had two weeks to find an answer – and he chose to play a back three against the struggling Hornets.
However, it looked to be backfiring early on as Daryl Janmaat got in behind, and he crossed for Abdoulaye Doucoure to open the scoring for Watford.
Tottenham did find an equaliser through Dele Alli late in the day, but a point was another fairly disappointing result for Spurs, who can’t seem to find any sort of fluency this term.
Pochettino quickly decided that the 3-4-2-1 system wasn’t working, bringing off Davinson Sanchez at half time for Son Heung-min in order to pay a 4-2-3-1.

That did get Spurs back into the game, and Alderweireld suggested that Spurs ‘did better’ after the switch, feeling that changing to three at the back was ‘difficult’.
Spurs did play three at the back for some time in the 2017-18 campaign, but Alderweireld seemingly felt that going back to it didn’t exactly work, meaning Pochettino may well scrap it moving forward.
“It was difficult,” said Alderweireld. “I think we didn’t make the right decisions. At the end they had one long ball and they scored. It’s difficult, not positive, but in the second half we changed the game. We did a lot better. We could have scored a lot more goals,” he added.
