Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld has told The Guardian that fans are going to see ‘the old Harry Kane again’ after being impressed with him in training.
Spurs will return to Premier League action on Friday, hosting Manchester United in their first game back from the pandemic-induced suspension.
Tottenham haven’t played since losing 3-0 away at RB Leipzig in March, and their last Premier League game – just three days earlier – was a 1-1 draw at Burnley.
Jose Mourinho will now hope to launch a push for the top four with Premier League action returning in a matter of days, and striker Kane will be key to those hopes.
Kane picked up a hamstring injury on New Year’s Day, and hasn’t played since. There have been burnout fears surrounding Kane for years now, and this is the longest break he has had in a while.
The 26-year-old has still managed to bag 17 goals in 25 games this season, and with time to heal and rest up, Kane could now explode when the Premier League returns.

Defender Alderweireld has admitted that Kane looks ‘top fit’ in training, predicting that the ‘old Kane’ will be back in the Tottenham attack.
Alderweireld thinks Kane has an ‘unbelievable’ desire to show everyone how good he is having not played for almost five months, with the Belgian predicting a ‘very good’ Kane.
“In training he looks fully fit, top fit, so we’re going to see the old Kane again,” Alderweireld says. “He has been out for a longer period so his desire to show everyone is unbelievable, so you’re going to see a very good Kane.”
