Mauricio Pochettino will be desperate to have the 28-year-old back and available for selection, as he looks to guide his side to a successful campaign both home and abroad.

Alderweireld sat down for an exclusive interview with the Mirror, and responded to a question asking him who is the most skilful player in the Tottenham squad:

“Mousa Dembele is the most skilful.”

Dembele joined Spurs from Fulham in the summer of 2012, for a fee believed to be in the region of £15 million, and has proven to be one of the best signings the club have made in recent history.

He makes such a difference to the Spurs side when he is in the team, and Pochettino will be hoping that he stays fit for the remainder of the current campaign.

Tottenham will need both Dembele and Alderweireld to be at their very best, if they are to have any chance whatsoever of challenging for major honours this term.
