Tottenham Hotspur haven’t won a major trophy since 2008.

Tottenham ace Toby Alderweireld spoke exclusively to Sky Sports about his side’s season thus far, and insisted that everyone involved with the club has to be more realistic with their ambitions.
Spurs have endured somewhat of a horror week, having been knocked out of both domestic cup competitions in the space of just four days.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men currently sit in third spot in the Premier League table, nine points adrift of league leaders Liverpool, so it could be argued that the Champions League actually represents their best chance of winning anything this season.
And with a tie against Borussia Dortmund on the horizon, that will obviously be far easier said than done.
Alderweireld spoke exclusively to Sky Sports, and suggested that finishing inside the top four consistently should be considered as a real success for Tottenham:

“For a club likes Spurs it’s very important to get Champions League. Doesn’t mean we’re happy and satisfied, we want to be first of course, but I think we have to be realistic. We don’t want to use it as an excuse but Wembley as well. That’s been difficult.”
Tottenham now face three consecutive home games in the Premier League against Watford, Newcastle United and Leicester City respectively, and should they take nine points from those outings, they will be in a great position from which to secure Champions League football for the fourth consecutive season.
