Tottenham Hotspur central defender Toby Alderweireld has shared the dressing-room mood after the defeat to Bayern Munich this week, as quoted in The Express.

Spurs suffered an embarrassing 7-2 loss at the hands of German and European giants Bayern at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in Champions League Group B on Tuesday evening.

It was one of the worst performances of Tottenham under manager Mauricio Pochettino, and doubts have risen on whether the team can take the next step under the Argentine.

Tottenham defender Alderweireld – who earns £80,000 per week as salary, according to Spotrac.com – has shared the dressing room atmosphere after the loss at the hands of Bayern.

Alderweireld told The Express: “I’m not going to lie, this is a big loss. We feel the pain, everyone in the dressing room was just quiet after the game and I felt from everyone the pain.

“So it’s not easy, but we have to work hard to do. And there are highs and lows and now we are we’re down there you know. The only way up is to work.”

Bouncing back

Tottenham need to recover from the loss to Bayern and need to do it quickly, as they are not in great form in the Premier League at the moment.

Spurs are already 11 points behind leaders Liverpool and will take on Brighton and Hove Albion away from home in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
