Tobias Figueiredo has tweeted his delight at signing a permanent contract with Nottingham Forest.

Forest confirmed the capture of the Sporting Lisbon defender for an undisclosed fee earlier on Friday afternoon.

Figueiredo has impressed since he arrived at the City Ground on an initial loan deal in January, making 11 appearances and keeping four clean sheets.

And the Reds have now handed the 24-year-old a contract until 2022, commencing July 1st.

Posting on Twitter afterwards, Figueiredo wrote: “This is my home. So happy to be extending my stay at #NFFC and creating some great memories.”

Figueiredo’s move comes days after he helped Nottingham Forest to preserve their Championship status, courtesy of a 2-1 win against Ipswich Town.

Having tied down the Portuguese, Forest may look to do likewise with fellow loan stars, Costel Pantilimon, Jack Colback and Lee Tomlin, ahead of Aitor Karanka’s first full season in charge.

The Basque should have plenty of room for manoeuvre in the summer transfer window, with five players out of contract at the City Ground.
