Paul Scholes told the Webby & O’Neill YouTube channel that he is ‘worried’ about Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
The former midfielder was sharing his thoughts on England ahead of the Euros, as he shared his brief thoughts on Everton’s shot-stopper.
Pickford will be expected to start for the Three Lions for that first game of the group stages against Croatia next month, but some England fans think the Everton 27-year-old should be replaced.
Scholes thought that Manchester United keeper, Dean Henderson, had a chance to showcase his worth, but he thinks he hasn’t really shown any signs that he can make that big leap.
“I think England are in a better place than they have been for a long time,” said Scholes.
“The worry about them is the centre of midfield, whether they have enough quality in there, centre half and I have to say the goalkeeper. I am worried about Jordan Pickford, to be honest with you.
“I would have loved it to have been Dean Henderson. I thought he had a great chance for these five or six games to replace De Gea and really taking it by the scruff of the neck, with a chance to get in the England squad. But he hasn’t really (taken that chance).”

Whilst Pickford has been dodgy on many occasions for Everton, the same cannot be said when he has donned the England colours.
At the last tournament – the World Cup in Russia – he was one of England’s best players and he hasn’t put a foot wrong for the Three Lions.
So, in that regard, he deserves his spot, but given the talk around him, everyone knows if he makes a single mistake then, unfortunately, the wolves will be after him.
