Harry Redknapp has told talkSPORT that he has been surprised by Gareth Bale’s performances for Tottenham Hotspur so far this season.
The former Tottenham manager has said that he expected Bale to hit the ground running at the North London club.
The Wales international winger returned to Spurs on loan from Spanish and European giants Real Madrid in the summer of 2020.
According to WhoScored, the 31-year-old has scored one goal in three Premier League games and has scored one goal in five Europa League matches for Spurs so far this season.
Redknapp said about Bale on talkSPORT: “I expected him to hit the ground running a bit more to be honest. When he came in, I thought he could really. But they have had results without him anyway.”
The Englishman added: “He has just got to be patient and keep getting himself fitter and try to get a regular place in the team.”
Gareth Bale is an important player for Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham are doing well without Bale playing regularly at the moment, as the North London club are at the top of the Premier League table and have also progressed to the last-16 stage of the Europa League.
Bale’s importance in the current Spurs team will grow in the coming weeks and months, and he could play a big role in Mourinho’s side in the second half of the season.
Harry Kane and Son Heung-min are scoring goals for fun at the moment, and when Bale is back to his best, the Tottenham attacking unit will be very exciting for the fans.
