With Christmas on the horizon, Liverpool posted a video of Jürgen Klopp and the players spreading festive cheer to patients of Alder Hey hospital.

The likes of Fabinho and Thiago were involved, among others, and the Brazilian had some kinds words for the Spaniard.

What’s the story?

Well, the duo spoke to a pair of Liverpool supporters, where Fabinho asked one who their favourite player in Jürgen Klopp’s squad is.

The Alder Hey patient – whose name was not shared – revealed that Thiago is their favourite player.

In response, Fabinho said: “To be honest, he is one of my favourite players as well.”

Thiago clearly appreciated the comment, as the £20m man gives Fabinho a friendly pat on the shoulder as if to say thank you.

If you were asked to select the perfect midfield pairing, Thiago and Fabinho wouldn’t be far off.

The duo have a perfect blend of abilities, which enables them to compliment each other nicely out on the pitch.

Fabinho excels at winning the ball and making life difficult for the opposition, whereas Thiago possesses the vision and technique to punch incisive passes through the lines.

Impressively, the pair average 1.94 points per game whenever they line up alongside each other, as Transfermarkt shows.

Thiago and Fabinho have only lost seven of the 33 games in which they’ve played alongside each other, which is a decent record.

Throw one of Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita or Harvey Elliott into the mix as well, and you’d have a simply exquisite midfield trio.

It goes without saying, but Klopp is blessed with some wonderful midfield options, to say the least.
