Liverpool won against Manchester United last week and then against West Bromwich Albion at the weekend.

Alisson scored with a superb header against the Baggies to keep alive Liverpool’s chances of finishing in the Champions League places.

It was a massive talking point among fans – even rival supporters – and football followers, but so was the incident between Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and Sadio Mane last week.

Following Liverpool’s victory over United at Old Trafford last week, Mane – who had come on as a substitute – snubbed the chance to shake hands with Klopp.

The Senegal international forward was not happy that he had not been told why he was dropped from the starting lineup, as Klopp subsequently explained to the media.

It did not look great at the time, but since then, the Liverpool manager has dismissed any rift between them and actually defended the former Southampton star.

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has been impressed by how Klopp has managed the situation.

Ferdinand said on Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE: “I think, Klopp, to be fair, handled the situation really well. He diffused the situation really well, so I don’t think there will be any hangover from that or any lasting effects from that.”

When Mane refused to shake hands, Klopp was very calm and mature and just let him be.

It was very good man-management indeed from the German.

The way Klopp explained the situation to the media afterwards must have also allayed worries of some Liverpool fans who felt that the Senegalese could now be sold.

Meanwhile, Ferdinand has also given his take on Real Madrid central defender Raphael Varane, who is on the radar of Liverpool, according to The Manchester Evening News.

Ferdinand said on Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE: “One thing I would say. 13 finals, 13 wins. I think that’s the stat. Correct me if I am wrong. He has got the experience, he is quick.”
