Tim Sherwood has told Harry Kane that if he wants to break Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League record then he needs to ‘sign a new contract’ at Tottenham Hotspur.
On Sunday, Kane reached goal number 187 for Spurs when Antonio Conte’s side beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 – he has passed Andy Cole’s record, he is nearing Wayne Rooney 208 and the big goal is to catch Shearer’s 260.
At 29, Kane has every chance to smash Shearer’s record, but he has to remain injury-free, and most importantly, remain in the Premier League in order to do that.

One way would be to sign a new contract in north London, he has two years left on his current deal after well-documented speculation last summer that he could leave.
Now, with Conte in the dugout, there has been none of that transfer talk this summer, but if Spurs aren’t winning trophies sooner rather than later, will it all change again?
Well, when Sherwood was talking to Kane about his Premier League goal record, whilst sitting in the studio next to Shearer himself, he told the player to sign on the dotted line, as he told PL Productions (28/08/22 at 6:50 pm).
“You have gone level with Andy Cole and you are chasing Wayne Rooney,” said Sherwood. “One step at a time. It looks like you are going to do it.
“But you might have to sign a new contract at Tottenham to be able to achieve it.”
Kane responded: “No, I am feeling good. It has been a good start to the season. Of course, I want to score in every game and see where I can get on that list, for sure.
“The most important thing is about trying to win for the team and we have had a great start to the season. I just have to continue what I am doing. We have another big game in midweek, and hopefully, we can keep this winning streak up.”

WILL KANE AND CONTE SIGN NEW DEALS?
There is a lot of hype around Tottenham, and from their fans’ perspective, hope that they can end their trophy drought this season.
In order for that to happen, two of their star man have to be at the club in the long run, but they need to sign new deals, first and foremost.
Conte has been backed by the club in the summer transfer market, and ahead of Thursday’s deadline, more new faces could yet arrive.
But he can’t achieve his goals this season alone, so will he pen a new long-term contract? The same with Kane? If so, then perhaps the club can achieve what those in the stands are dreaming about.
