The Liverpool central defender was in fine form for Granada during their win over Barcelona while Wellington Silva enhanced his reputation with a double.

This week, there were a host of loanees who impressed for their respective temporary clubs, with some performing goalscoring cameos and others ensuring opposition strikers fired blanks.
Liverpool and Arsenal were the two teams to benefit mostly from their fringe players’ external contributions this weekend, with one player for both sides tasting victory, whilst also making vital actions at either end of the pitch respectively.
Tiago Ilori
The Spaniard was a key figure in the Granada side that secured a famous win over Barcelona on Saturday; the first time El Grana have beaten Gerardo Martino’s side in the league in 42 years.
The star of the show for Granada was arguably goalkeeper Orestis Karnezis, who made several key stops but Ilori was on hand to make a crucial challenge of his own, which denied former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas an equaliser as Barca turned the screw.
Ilori has starred for the Andalucian-based club this season and could secure a permanent move to the La Liga outfit if first-team opportunities at Liverpool are not forthcoming.
Wellington Silva
The Brazilian striker, on loan from Arsenal at Real Murcia, struck twice for the Spanish club in their 3-1 weekend win over Lugo.
Murcia, hoping to qualify for a place in the Segunda play-offs to contend for promotion to the top flight, were boosted by Wellington’s second-half double, which added to Kike’s strike on the hour.
Given his matchwinning contribution, it seemed apt that his substitution late on came before Lugo netted a consolation goal.
Ravel Morrison
The troubled West Ham midfielder’s stock continues to rise in the Championship with QPR after helping Harry Redknapp’s side to an ultimately comprehensive 5-2 win over Nottingham Forest.
The win, which strengthened QPR’s grip on fourth spot in the Championship and was one factor in preventing Burnley from securing automatic promotion, was a hard-earned one until Morrison stepped up to add the gloss to proceedings.
Jesse Lingard
The Manchester United forward was in inspired form as he helped Brighton to move into sixth place in the Championship with a 3-0 win over Charlton Athletic.
Lingard showed impressive initiative to nick in and speed past Michael Morrison before applying a clever finish to get the Seagulls off to a flying start.
The 21-year-old helped his new side extend their lead with an assist for Leonardo Ulloa to make it two before Jake Forster-Caskey added a third.
And one whose weekend didn’t go quite so well…
Jack Collison
The West Ham midfielder has failed to score since joining his new Wigan team-mates in March and his return from injury has not gone as swimmingly as planned at the Latics.
His penalty miss against Arsenal in Wigan’s FA Cup shootout defeat this weekend only served to add to his recent woes after shooting far too close to Lukasz Fabianski.
Collison will be hoping his fortunes change before his return to the Hammers at the season’s end.
