A few years ago, Liverpool were linked with signing Isco.

According to El Desmarque in 2020, the then-Real Madrid attacker was firmly on Jurgen Klopp’s radar.

Obviously nothing materialised but, based on a new development, Liverpool might consider the 30-year-old again.

That’s because Sevilla have just terminated the Spain international’s contract, having only signed him this past summer.

According to BBC Sport, the former Real maestro is reported to have had a bust-up with the club’s sporting director Monchi at the training ground.

And this is important because his release appears to be more about a difference of opinion on something, rather than a question mark over the player’s talent.

There’s no doubt that his stock has fallen in recent years, but Isco could still be a valuable addition by Liverpool.

The Malaga-born attacker, who won another Liga title and Champions League last season, can play attacking midfield and out wide.

And with Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota out until well into 2023, and Liverpool suffering from creativity regardless, don’t be surprised if Klopp floats the idea to his coaching staff.

Without reinforcements in January, the Reds, who are sixth in the Premier League standings, are going to have a horrendous season overall, with Diaz and Jota nowhere near being fit.

And anything in the transfer budget should probably go towards the midfield, which has needed an overhaul for years.

When it comes to wide options, well Liverpool might have to get creative and the sudden release of a player who was once their target could be considered again.
