West Ham United winger Michail Antonio has spoken highly of Southampton forward Shane Long on Sky Sports.
Antonio played with Long at Reading and has included the Republic of Ireland international among the best 11 players he has ever played with.
“My striker up top is commanding, I am going to have to go for Shane Long from my time at Reading,” Antonio told Sky Sports.
“Not the biggest man, but somehow wins the majority of his headers, tireless worker who never stops running for the team and he gets goals.”
Long has scored one goal and created six chances in 16 Premier League appearances for Southampton so far this season.
During the 2015-16 campaign, the Republic of Ireland international scored 10 goals and created 32 chances in 28 league matches for the Saints.
The former West Bromwich Albion and Hull City forward has actually been linked with a move to West Ham in the January transfer window.
According to The Daily Mail, the Hammers are looking into the possibility of signing Long this month.
West Ham are 13th in the Premier League table at the moment with 22 points from 20 matches.
Antonio has scored eight goals and created 17 chances in 19 league games for the Hammers so far this season.
Slaven Bilic’s side will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they take on London rivals Crystal Palace at the London Stadium in the Premier League.
