Some Arsenal fans on social media are less than impressed after the club were linked with a move for 19-year-old Kyle Joseph.
Joseph looks to be a promising talent, netting five goals in 14 League One appearances this season at just 19 years of age, but it seems as though Arsenal fans have reservations about signing an attacker from League One.
We can understand why to an extent, a team of Arsenal’s calibre would usually be expected to sign players from a slightly more fashionable club than Wigan Athletic, but fans’ reactions to this news seems a bit extreme.
There is a lot of talent to be unearthed in the lower leagues, the likes of Ollie Watkins, Dele Alli and James Maddison were League One players once upon a time and they’re now starring in the Premier League.
It’s cliché to say it, but Jamie Vardy was a non-league player before Leicester signed him and now he’s a bona fide Premier League legend.
Arsenal supporters have been quick to turn their noses up at the idea of signing the teenager from Wigan, but perhaps they should be a bit more open-minded to the idea of bagging bargains from the lower leagues.
Here’s what Arsenal supporters have been saying about this rumour on social media…
