Leeds United head coach Jesse Marsch has told Leeds Live that he decided to take off Jack Harrison at half time against Brentford because he was tired.

Marsch’s Leeds suffered a 5-2 defeat at the hands of Brentford away from home in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Harrison, who can operate as a winger or as an attacking midfielder, started the match.

However, Marsch decided to replace the former Manchester City prospect with England international striker Patrick Bamford at half time.

Jesse Marsch on Jack Harrison for Leeds United v Brentford

Marsch said about Harrison’s substitution: “No, I felt Jack was a little bit tired. We put a lot into these guys over the three-game week.

“We were thinking about making more subs at half-time but we just decided on that one but Jack’s been fantastic.

“I just didn’t feel like he had his legs in his power like he normally has so then we decided to try to put someone else on that could push the game a little bit.”

Important player

Jack Harrison has been superb for Leeds United so far this season and is an important player for the team.

The 25-year-old is a regular in the starting lineup, and he scores goals, creates chances, works hard for the team, and links up well with his teammates.

Now, of course, every player has bad games, and Harrison did not look quite up for it against Brentford.

These things happen.

We should not read too much into it.

Harrison has scored one goal and given three assists in six Premier League appearances so far this season.
