The January transfer window isn’t even here yet, but Celtic appear to be on the verge of a first major signing of 2019, with Timothy Weah looking Glasgow-bound.

The Bhoys may well offer a permanent deal to trialist Manny Perez, but it’s another American talent who is making the headlines in Weah.

Currently with Paris Saint-Germain, the 18-year-old is the son of former AC Milan hero George Weah, and already has eight caps for the United States national team.

Weah has made six first-team appearances for Paris Saint-Germain this season, scoring two goals, but he took to Instagram on Christmas Day to announce that he is leaving PSG on loan in January.

Many will have been left wondering just who Weah could be signing for, but it now seems that Celtic are set to swoop and take him until the end of the season.

RMC Sport report that Weah has chosen Celtic ahead of a host of other clubs, including Amiens, Strasbourg, Rennes and Caen – and more clues were found on Weah’s Instagram page.

The teenage striker suddenly started following most of the Celtic squad, including the likes of Karamoko Dembele and Anthony Ralston, which may just be the biggest indication yet that he is signing for Celtic in the coming days.
