Timothy Weah suggests he could miss Celtic’s Scottish Cup final

Celtic forward Timothy Weah may not be playing in the Scottish Cup final.

Celtic forward Timothy Weah has told The Daily Record that he may not be involved in the Scottish Cup final due to international commitments.

The Bhoys beat Aberdeen 3-0 in the Scottish Cup semi-finals on Sunday afternoon, as James Forrest, Odsonne Edouard and Tom Rogic all found the net.

Neil Lennon’s side will take on Hearts in the final at Hampden Park next month, and will be hoping to secure a domestic treble that day.

With the league title all but secured, Lennon will have one eye on that cup final date, but one player has already suggested he may not be involved.

Forward Weah, signed on loan from Paris Saint-Germain by Brendan Rodgers in January, has only started once under Lennon, making an additional five substitute appearances.

The American teenager has struggled to really nail down a role under Lennon, and he may not be in the good books after hinting he may not be around for the Scottish Cup final.

Weah is expected to be called up by the United States for the Under-20 World Cup in Poland, and their first game against Ukraine is the night before Celtic’s cup final clash.

Weah has now admitted that he would like to play in Celtic’s final, and whilst he doesn’t know what’s going on right now having only just learnt about the schedule clash, he’s leaving the decision up to Celtic, PSG and the United States to decide what is best for him – meaning he may be forced to miss out on the big day.

“Hopefully I’ll be here for the final because I have the World Cup coming up and we have to discuss that with the clubs and the national team,” said Weah. “I didn’t know about it (the dates clash) until I saw it in the media. I don’t know what’s going on. I guess the club has to discuss with the national team.”

“I would love to play in in the cup final but it’s a World Cup as well. It’s up to the club and the national team to discuss on which one is better. It’s going to be my first Scottish Cup final so it would be good to be a part of that,” he added.
