Celtic’s new forward Timothy Weah has told Celtic TV that he received messages from Odsonne Edouard on Instagram before making his move to Glasgow.

The Bhoys went into the January transfer window wanting attacking reinforcements, and they have now landed three signings in the final third in a matter of days.

Winger Oliver Burke arrived on loan from West Brom, Weah joined from Paris Saint-Germain on loan and Dunajstka Streda striker Vakoun Issouf Bayo arrived in a permanent move on Tuesday.

Weah is a particularly fascinating signing, as whilst Rangers have gone with a veteran striker on loan in Jermain Defoe, Celtic have signed a player half Defoe’s age in Weah.

The 18-year-old needs playing time, and with so many stars at PSG, he has decided to head out to Celtic until the end of the season in order to play games.

Already a United States international, Weah will be looking to hit the ground running at Parkhead, and his move means that he will reunite with ex-PSG teammate Edouard.

Weah has now revealed that Edouard actually messaged him on Instagram after he first visited Celtic’s facilities pestering him to sign, and they have now caught up with each other at Celtic’s training camp in Dubai, with Weah hoping to follow in the Frenchman’s footsteps.

“It’s funny because the day I had the visit, he DM’ed me on Instagram and he was like, ‘So bro, are you coming, are you coming?” said Weah. “I’m like, ‘Yeah, I had a meeting with the gaffer and I’m really loving the team and really loving the club and I’m going to come here.’

“He saw me today in the locker room, we were joking, laughing and catching up.”It’s great to see him again and it’s great seeing how he has progressed and seeing his development at the club and, hopefully, I can do the same,” he added.
