The Knicks’ first title celebration in 53 years was never going to feel ordinary. New York had waited since 1973, and Thursday’s ticker-tape route through lower Manhattan gave the city its release.
Fans lined the streets to salute a team that beat Victor Wembanyama’s San Antonio Spurs 4-1. The route towards City Hall became the public ending to one of the NBA’s longest waits.
That setting drew famous faces who have long shaped the Knicks’ identity, and several were together on a bus heading to the celebration.
Timothee Chalamet rides with Knicks icons and celebrities
The bus heading to the parade filmed by pedal steel guitarist Robert Randolph brought together actors, former players and Madison Square Garden figures.
Spotted together were former Knicks scorer Bernard King, actor Ben Stiller, Sopranos actress Edie Falco and actor Steve Schirripa, ex-Knicks guard John Starks, forward Larry Johnson, Hollywood star Timothee Chalamet, Hall of Fame Knicks icon Walt ‘Clyde’ Frazier and more celebrities.
It was a fitting group for a franchise whose reach stretches across sport, television, film and New York culture.
Timothee Chalamet followed Knicks all the way to San Antonio
Chalamet did not wait for the parade to be part of the moment.
He travelled to San Antonio for Game 5, where the Knicks sealed the championship with a 94-90 win behind Jalen Brunson’s 45 points. Ben Stiller also made that trip.
After the final buzzer, the 30-year-old even shouted that the title meant “way more” than the Oscars, showing how deeply he had lived the run.
