Timo Werner has celebrated joining Tottenham Hotspur having completed his move from RB Leipzig to North London this evening.

Tottenham have been in the market for a new striker having sold Harry Kane to Bayern Munich back in August.

Spurs invested in Brennan Johnson at the time, going down the route of landing a versatile forward rather than a fixed striker.

Yet with Son Heung-min now heading off to the Asian Cup with South Korea, Tottenham have dipped back into the market.

Spurs have confirmed the arrival of RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner, who has penned a loan deal until the end of the season.

HITC Football understands that Tottenham will have an option to turn the move permanent for around £15.5million this summer.

The move has raised a few eyebrows.

Werner struggled to hit top form during his time with Chelsea having completed a 2020 move from RB Leipzig.

Chelsea sold Werner back to RB Leipzig in 2022, but he now finds himself back in the Premier League again.

Werner has now taken to Instagram, sending a message to the Tottenham fanbase after securing his move.

Werner offered up just 13 words to Spurs fans, stating ‘so happy to finally be here, can’t wait to be on the pitch’.

The post was ‘liked’ by a number of Tottenham players, including Micky van de Ven, Emerson Royal, Cristian Romero and captain Son.

Werner has actually been linked with Tottenham in the past.

The rumours go all the way back to 2015 as Tottenham wanted to sign Werner from Stuttgart under Mauricio Pochettino.

Werner has been through major highs and disappointing lows since then but arrives at Tottenham with something to prove.

The 27-year-old will want to show that he can cut it in the Premier League and is worth keeping for the long term.

It’s up to Ange Postecoglou to get the best out of Werner, just over a year since the striker scored against Postecoglou’s Celtic side in the Champions League.
